Overview

New World Empires Wiki covers two mods created for Rise of Nations, each of them sharing the same technology and upgrades system with only changes to flavour.

Traits of the mods

  • Cities: Cities are costlier to build, and require exorbitant wealth amounts.
  • Information warfare and morale: Morale makes a reappearance again, once more. Low morale units cannot be used for scouting, and are very vulnerable to covert operations, especially Bribery by Spies. The LOS of most buildings and mercenaries is drastically reduced, thus making your units very much reliant on some degree of micromanagement (hint: train officers and priests to help out).
  • Rushing: These mods were all built with rushing in mind. The Barracks, Stable and Dock no longer need tech levels to be built, but they can be upgraded further, depending on the civs and the period in mind.
  • A unique tech tree. As before, upgrades and technologies for this mod are the same, but with one major exception: techs are not shared by all groups, religion and culture has an effect on them.
  • Unique building trees: some factions build Warrior Halls, while others rely on a Noble Residence. The difference lies in their tech requirements, and their costs.
  • More history. Beginning with Swords of the Prophets, this family of mods takes a look at the history of black Africa. Nations now covered by this mod don't just cover the great powers of North Africa (chiefly, Egypt2Arabs 666), but West Africa and the Sudan as well.
